Holiday time can be stressful for some of us. It's not the same for everyone. Until I lost my dear Mom to suicide, I didn't realize that this season, so beautiful for some, can be a very triggering and lonely time for others. And then it happened to me.
I remember the first holidays without my Mom. My family all dismantled, hearts shattered, no sense of home, and no place to escape mentally. I was in a very dark place. It took a couple of seasons for me to realize that this feeling is so unbearable, I never, EVER want anyone to feel like this. Whatever the reason, I don't want you to feel alone and hopeless. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a United States-based suicide prevention network of over 200+ crisis centers that provides 24/7 service via a toll-free hotline with the number 9-8-8. It is available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. I can't tell you how much I wish this existed back when my Mom was struggling.
But it exists now, and ever since 988 became official, I wanted to create something that would help raise the awareness and let everyone around know about this number that is so easy to remember and is within our reach every time we need it.
988. So much more than just a number. It's hope, now engraved on these little bracelets, and forever in my heart.
